جزء محدد من سائل أو نسيج أو مادة أخرى يؤخذ من المريض لإجراء التحليل، مثل الدم الوريدي أو البول أو المسحة أو السائل الدماغي الشوكي. يجب أن يطابق نوع العينة التحليل المطلوب، فقياس البوتاسيوم على عينة EDTA بدل المصل يعطي قيمة مرتفعة كاذبة.
Definition
A discrete portion of a body fluid, tissue or other material taken from a patient for examination, such as venous blood, urine, a swab or cerebrospinal fluid. The specimen type must match the test ordered, because potassium measured on an EDTA specimen instead of serum will be falsely high.
