عكارة المصل أو البلازما بسبب ارتفاع الجزيئات الدهنية، ولا سيما الكيلوميكرونات الغنية بالشحوم الثلاثية، وتحدث غالباً بعد الطعام. تشتت الضوء وتتداخل مع التحاليل الضوئية، وقد تخفض الشوارد المقاسة بالقطب الانتقائي غير المباشر. يمكن تصفية العينة بالطرد المركزي عالي السرعة، ويبين مؤشر العكارة مقدار التداخل المتوقع.
Definition
Turbidity of serum or plasma caused by high levels of lipid particles, mainly triglyceride-rich chylomicrons, often after a meal. It scatters light and interferes with photometric tests, and it can falsely lower electrolytes measured by indirect ISE. High-speed centrifugation can clear the sample, and the lipemia index shows how much interference to expect.
