قياس كمية الضوء التي يمتصها المحلول عند أطوال موجية قابلة للاختيار، باستخدام مصدر ضوئي ومحدد لطول الموجة ومستقبل ضوئي. يقوم عليه معظم العمل الروتيني في الكيمياء السريرية، والمراقبة اليومية للمصباح وكؤوس القياس وناصع الماء تحافظ على موثوقية النتائج.
Definition
Measurement of how much light a solution absorbs at selectable wavelengths, using a light source, a wavelength selector and a detector. It underpins most routine clinical chemistry, and daily checks of the lamp, cuvettes and water blank keep its results reliable.
