تلون المصل أو البلازما بالأصفر حتى البني بسبب ارتفاع تركيز البيليروبين. يمتص البيليروبين الضوء ويتفاعل في بعض الطرق، فقد يحرف نتائج الكرياتينين والكوليسترول وتحاليل أخرى. تعطي الأجهزة مؤشراً لليرقان، والنتائج التي تتجاوز حد الشركة المصنعة تُعلَّم أو تُقاس بطريقة أخرى.
Definition
Yellow to brown discoloration of serum or plasma caused by a high bilirubin concentration. Bilirubin absorbs light and reacts in some methods, so it can bias creatinine, cholesterol and other tests. Analyzers report an icterus index, and results above the manufacturer's limit are flagged or measured by another method.
