مقدار الضوء الذي يمتصه المحلول عند طول موجة معين، ويُحسب كلوغاريتم نسبة الضوء الساقط إلى الضوء النافذ. وفق قانون بير لامبرت تتناسب الامتصاصية مع التركيز ضمن المجال الخطي، ولهذا تحول الأجهزة الضوئية الامتصاصية إلى نتائج عبر المعايرة.
Definition
The amount of light a solution absorbs at a given wavelength, calculated as the logarithm of incident to transmitted light. Under the Beer-Lambert law it is proportional to concentration within the linear range, which is why photometric analyzers convert absorbance into results through calibration.
