قياس تركيز مادة من مقدار الضوء الذي تمتصه أو تمرره أو تصدره عند طول موجة مختار. هو أساس معظم أجهزة الكيمياء، من المقياس الضوئي نصف الآلي البسيط حتى الأنظمة الآلية الكاملة، ويعتمد على ناصع صحيح وكؤوس نظيفة ومصباح مستقر.
Definition
Measurement of a substance's concentration from how much light it absorbs, transmits or emits at a selected wavelength. It is the basis of most chemistry analyzers, from simple semi-automatic photometers to fully automated systems, and relies on correct blanks, clean cuvettes and a stable lamp.
