الكمية المراد قياسها هي الكمية المحددة التي يُقصد قياسها، وتُعرَّف بالمادة ونوع العينة والوحدة معاً، مثل تركيز الكرياتينين في المصل بوحدة µmol/L. التعريف الدقيق مهم لأن الغلوكوز في البلازما والغلوكوز في الدم الكامل الشعري كميتان مختلفتان تعطيان قيماً متباينة للمريض نفسه.
Definition
The measurand is the specific quantity intended to be measured, defined by the substance, the sample type and the unit together, for example creatinine concentration in serum in µmol/L. Precise definition matters because glucose in plasma and glucose in capillary whole blood are different measurands and give different values for the same patient.
