Definition
Text added to a report by qualified staff to help the clinician understand the results, for example suggesting thalassemia trait when MCV is low and the red cell count high, or advising a repeat test. ISO 15189 treats interpretation as part of the lab service. Comments should be specific to the patient and avoid generic text.
