القيمة الشاذة نتيجة تبتعد كثيراً عن باقي البيانات بحيث يُشك في أنها ناتجة عن خطأ، مثل فقاعة أو خطأ نسخ. يجب تحديدها باختبار إحصائي معلن مثل اختبار Grubbs قبل استبعادها وتوثيق السبب، لأن حذف القيم المزعجة دون قاعدة يُظهر الأداء أفضل من حقيقته.
Definition
An outlier is a result so far from the rest of the data that an error is suspected, such as a bubble or a transcription mistake. It should be identified with a stated statistical test such as Grubbs before exclusion, with the reason recorded, because deleting inconvenient values without a rule makes performance look better than it is.
