الناتج الرئيسي الحاوي على النيتروجين من تفكك البروتين، يصنعه الكبد وتطرحه الكليتان. يُعبر عنه بوحدة ملغ/دل أو مليمول/لتر، ويرتفع في القصور الكلوي والتجفاف والنزف الهضمي وارتفاع تناول البروتين. هو أقل نوعية من الكرياتينين في تقييم وظيفة الكلية.
Definition
The main nitrogen-containing waste product of protein breakdown, made in the liver and excreted by the kidneys. It is reported in mg/dL or mmol/L and rises with kidney failure, dehydration, gastrointestinal bleeding or high protein intake. It is less specific for kidney function than creatinine.
