المقطع هو قيمة المتغير الصادي عندما يكون المتغير السيني صفراً، أي نقطة تقاطع خط الانحدار مع المحور العمودي. في مقارنة الطرق يشير المقطع البعيد عن الصفر إلى انحياز ثابت، فمقطع 0.3 mmol/L يعني أن الطريقة الجديدة تضيف نحو 0.3 إلى كل نتيجة.
Definition
The intercept is the value of y when x is zero, where the regression line crosses the vertical axis. In method comparison an intercept away from zero indicates constant bias, so an intercept of 0.3 mmol/L means the new method adds roughly 0.3 to every result.
