إنزيم تنتجه بعض الأمعائيات، غالباً E. coli والكلبسيلا، يحطم البنسلينات ومعظم السيفالوسبورينات والأزتريونام. تبقى هذه الجراثيم عادة حساسة للكاربابينيمات، والإبلاغ المبكر عنها يوجه العلاج وإجراءات العزل.
Definition
An enzyme produced by some Enterobacterales, often E. coli and Klebsiella, that breaks down penicillins, most cephalosporins and aztreonam. ESBL producers usually remain susceptible to carbapenems, and early reporting guides treatment and isolation measures.
