الاختبار التأكيدي تحليل ثانٍ يعتمد مبدأ أو هدفاً مختلفاً ويتميز بنوعية عالية، يُستخدم للتحقق من نتيجة تحرٍّ متفاعلة أو إيجابية. من أمثلته اختبار التعادل لـ HBsAg والمقايسة التكميلية لفيروس HIV، ويجب أن يُبنى التقرير النهائي على نتيجة المسار التشخيصي كاملاً.
Definition
A confirmatory test is a second examination, based on a different principle or target and with high specificity, used to verify a reactive or positive screening result. Examples are a neutralisation test for HBsAg or an HIV supplemental assay, and the final report should rest on the combined testing algorithm.
