وعاء مضغوط يعقم بالبخار المشبع، عادةً على حرارة 121 درجة وضغط نحو 15 رطلاً على الإنش المربع مدة 15 دقيقة على الأقل، مع دورات أطول لحمولات النفايات الكثيفة. تُسجل كل دورة، ويُستخدم شريط المؤشر الكيميائي في كل حمولة، وتُجرى دورياً مؤشرات بيولوجية تحوي Geobacillus stearothermophilus.
Definition
A pressure vessel that sterilizes with saturated steam, commonly at 121 °C and about 15 psi for at least 15 minutes, with longer cycles for dense waste loads. Each cycle is recorded, chemical indicator tape is used on every load and biological indicators with Geobacillus stearothermophilus are run periodically. An overpacked load may not reach temperature at its center.
