علاج يُعطى بعد تعرض محتمل لمنع العدوى، مثل مضادات الفيروسات القهقرية لفيروس نقص المناعة البشري، أو اللقاح والغلوبولين المناعي لالتهاب الكبد B. يجب بدء الوقاية من فيروس نقص المناعة بأسرع وقت، ويفضل خلال ساعات، ولا يوصى بها بعد 72 ساعة. يجب أن يعرف كل مختبر أين يحصل العاملون عليها ليلاً وفي العطل.
Definition
Treatment given after a possible exposure to prevent infection, such as antiretroviral drugs for HIV or vaccine and immunoglobulin for hepatitis B. HIV PEP should start as soon as possible, ideally within hours, and is not recommended after 72 hours. Every lab should know where staff can get PEP at any hour, including nights and weekends.
