هرمون تفرزه النخامى وينظم إفراز الدرق، ويقاس بالتحليل المناعي بوحدة mIU/L. هو تحليل الخط الأول للدرق لأنه يتغير قبل الثيروكسين الحر، فيرتفع في قصور الدرق البدئي وينخفض في فرط نشاط الدرق. تضيف مختبرات كثيرة الثيروكسين الحر تلقائياً عند شذوذ TSH. قد يتداخل البيوتين عالي الجرعة مع بعض الطرق.
Definition
A pituitary hormone that controls thyroid output, measured by immunoassay in mIU/L. It is the first-line thyroid test because it changes before free T4 does, rising in primary hypothyroidism and falling in hyperthyroidism. Many labs add free T4 by reflex when TSH is abnormal. High-dose biotin can interfere with some assays.
