الطب الدقيق مقاربة تبني القرار الطبي على خصائص المريض الفردية، ولا سيما المورثات والمؤشرات الحيوية، بدل الاعتماد على المتوسط العام. دور المخبر فيها أساسي، مثل كشف طفرات EGFR في سرطان الرئة أو التعبير عن HER2 في سرطان الثدي، لأن هذه النتائج تحدد الفئة التي يُتوقع أن تستفيد من دواء معين.
Definition
Precision medicine bases medical decisions on the characteristics of the individual patient, especially genes and biomarkers, instead of the population average. The laboratory is central to it, for example testing EGFR mutations in lung cancer or HER2 status in breast cancer, since these results define which patients are expected to benefit from a given drug.
