علم القياس أو المترولوجيا هو العلم الذي يدرس القياس وتطبيقاته، ومنه جاءت مفاهيم التتبّع والارتياب والمعايرة التي يعتمدها ISO 15189. فهم هذه المفاهيم يساعد المختبر على الإجابة عن سؤال المدقق حول مصدر قيمة المعايِر ومدى الثقة بنتيجة المريض.
Definition
Metrology is the science of measurement and its application, and it is the source of the traceability, uncertainty and calibration concepts used in ISO 15189. Understanding it helps a lab answer an assessor who asks where a calibrator value comes from and how much confidence a patient result deserves.
