مجموعة نقية من كائن دقيق واحد يُحصل عليها من العينة، عادة بانتقاء مستعمرة مفردة وإعادة زرعها. تُجرى تحاليل التعريف والحساسية على العزلة، واختبار نمو مختلط يعطي نتائج غير موثوقة.
Definition
A pure population of a single microorganism obtained from a specimen, usually by picking one colony and subculturing it. Identification and susceptibility tests are performed on the isolate, and testing a mixed growth gives unreliable results.
