التعريف
أي عملية تزيل العوامل المعدية أو تعطلها ليصبح الغرض أو السطح آمناً للتداول أو إعادة الاستخدام أو الإتلاف. تشمل التنظيف والتطهير والتعقيم، ويُختار منها ما يناسب الخطر. مثلاً يجب إزالة تلوث الجهاز وتوثيق ذلك قبل أن يصونه المهندس أو يخرج من المختبر.
Definition
Any process that removes or inactivates infectious agents so an item or surface is safe to handle, reuse or dispose of. It covers cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, chosen according to risk. For example, an analyzer must be decontaminated, with a record, before an engineer services it or it leaves the lab.
