النسخة الاحتياطية هي نسخة من بيانات النظام تُحفظ منفصلة عن الأصل لاستعادتها عند التلف أو السرقة أو العطل. المعتاد أن تُحفظ نسخة خارج مبنى المختبر، وأن يُجرّب استرجاعها دورياً، لأن نسخة لم يُختبر استرجاعها قد لا تعمل يوم الحاجة.
Definition
A data backup is a copy of system data stored separately from the original so it can be restored after damage, theft or failure. Good practice keeps a copy outside the laboratory building and tests restoration periodically, because a backup that has never been restored may fail on the day it is needed.
