وسط غني يحتوي دم الغنم أو الخيل، تنمو عليه معظم الجراثيم ويظهر نمط انحلال الدم حول مستعمراتها. انحلال بيتا يعطي منطقة صافية، كما في المكورات العقدية المقيحة، أما انحلال ألفا فيعطي منطقة مخضرة.
Definition
A rich medium containing sheep or horse blood that supports most bacteria and shows their pattern of hemolysis. Beta-hemolysis gives a clear zone around colonies, as with Streptococcus pyogenes, while alpha-hemolysis gives a greenish zone.
