إجراءات تمنع فقدان العوامل البيولوجية والذيفانات والمعلومات المتعلقة بها أو سرقتها أو إساءة استخدامها أو إطلاقها عمداً. فبينما تحمي السلامة البيولوجية الناس من العامل، يحمي الأمن البيولوجي العامل من الناس. ويعني في المختبر الروتيني ضبط الدخول وجرد المزارع المخزنة والإتلاف الآمن للعزلات الإيجابية.
Definition
Measures that prevent the loss, theft, misuse or deliberate release of biological agents, toxins and related information. Where biosafety protects people from the agent, biosecurity protects the agent from people. In a routine lab it means controlled access, an inventory of stored cultures and secure disposal of positive isolates.
