الخلايا الجذعية خلايا غير متمايزة قادرة على تجديد نفسها وعلى إنتاج أنواع خلوية متخصصة، ومنها الخلايا الجذعية المكونة للدم في نقي العظم. يشارك المخبر في زرعها بعدّ الخلايا الإيجابية لـ CD34 بقياس الجريان الخلوي، لتحديد ما إذا كانت الكمية المجموعة من المتبرع كافية للزرع.
Definition
Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that can renew themselves and give rise to specialised cell types, including the haematopoietic stem cells of the bone marrow. The laboratory supports stem cell transplantation by counting CD34-positive cells with flow cytometry, which shows whether the collected harvest holds enough cells for transplant.
