تفاعل PCR تُقاس فيه إشارة متألقة في كل دورة، فيُكشف التضخيم أثناء حدوثه دون الحاجة إلى خطوة الهلام. رقم الدورة التي تتجاوز فيها الإشارة العتبة (Ct) يرتبط بالكمية الابتدائية من الهدف، وهذا يسمح بقياس الحمل الفيروسي.
Definition
PCR in which a fluorescent signal is measured in every cycle, so amplification is detected as it happens and no gel step is needed. The cycle at which the signal crosses the threshold (Ct) relates to the starting amount of target, which allows viral loads to be measured.
