المسافة التي تهبطها الكريات الحمراء في عمود عمودي من الدم المضاف إليه مانع تخثر خلال ساعة، بوحدة مم/ساعة، وطريقة وسترغرين هي الطريقة المرجعية. مؤشر غير نوعي للالتهاب، يستخدم مثلاً في التهاب الشريان الصدغي وألم العضلات الروماتزمي. يرتفع مع العمر وفقر الدم والحمل، ويتغير أبطأ من CRP.
Definition
The distance red cells fall in a vertical column of anticoagulated blood in one hour, reported in mm/h, with Westergren as the reference method. It is a nonspecific marker of inflammation, used for example in temporal arteritis and polymyalgia rheumatica. It rises with age, anemia and pregnancy and changes more slowly than CRP.
