إنزيم يوجد في الكبد والقلب والعضلات الهيكلية والكريات الحمراء، ويقاس نشاطه بوحدة U/L. يرتفع في أمراض الكبد وأذيات العضلات، وتساعد نسبة AST إلى ALT على التمييز بين الأسباب. ولأن الكريات الحمراء تحتويه، فإن انحلال الدم يرفعه زيفاً، لذلك يُراجع مؤشر الانحلال.
Definition
An enzyme present in liver, heart, skeletal muscle and red cells, measured as activity in U/L. It rises in liver disease and muscle injury, and the AST to ALT ratio helps distinguish causes. Because red cells contain AST, hemolysis raises it falsely, so the hemolysis index is checked.
